  Description of Seminar/Conference

Please note - this is a repeat of the webinar presented Dec 2011.

Any time two or more dogs and their owners come together, owners invariably want to let their dogs meet. More often than not we hear the familiar phrase “My dog just wants to say hi”, without that owner realizing the dog they are approaching may not be interested in saying “hi”. These are potential disaster periods in every group class and at rescue group meet & greets. The first 15-20 seconds of a greeting has a strong effect on the future relationship between dogs. Whether they are dogs attending a class together each week, neighbors having their dogs meet in the front yard or rescue groups trying to locate forever homes -- You only have one chance to make the best first impression! Trainers can help in these situations by understanding how to orchestrate a safe dog-to-dog introduction to ensure the best chance of success.

In this seminar, Robin will teach the best questions to quickly determine if two dogs should be introduced. These non –invasive, non-threatening questions can be the key to making quick assessments. The seminar will also cover how to set up a greeting, how to recognize polite versus rude greeting behaviors and when to intervene and stop the greeting before it goes bad.
