  Description of Seminar/Conference

This is a fun, challenging, and comprehensive week of working on your training skills with a chance to develop them to a professional level and have them evaluated to earn a certificate. We will focus on techniques for building any behavior from scratch and you being able to do so on your own rather than just follow recipes. Your goal is to take behaviors to the level where they can be performed with distractions and generalized to multiple environments. All training is reward-based, but you will learn to diversify the rewards and not rely on showing them in order to get strong responses. Upon completion of your week’s work, you will receive a frameable diploma highlighting your studies and accomplishments. Every day we will be doing hands-on training work with a variety of dogs at the world-class St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center. This will make a huge difference in your skills and in the lives of the shelter dogs you will be helping by providing needed enrichment and manners training.

This workshop is ideal for dog lovers and professionals who want:

  • Hands-on study in the complete process of training any behavior from getting the dog to learn the first moves to fading lures and generalizing performance to all situations, including distracting environments
  • A Certificate highlighting that your work has been evaluated by a Certified Mentor Trainer
  • A very productive week of hands-on training with in-person coaching from accomplished professionals
  • To close gaps in your knowledge and refine/refresh your skill set by teaching a wide variety of behaviors to dogs of all sizes and personalities
  • To learn innovative professional, science-based training techniques with force-free, positive reinforcement methods
  • To enrich the lives of shelter dogs and help their chances of finding a great home
