Terry has re-written her classic "Toolbox" book, which so many of us started our careers with. This book is primarily targeted to owners, but there's still plenty of good information for professional trainers - especially new trainers. Terry has a wonderful way of organizing information in an easily understood and remembered way - we can all learn better client communications by paying attention Terry's techniques.
This series is comprised of eight sessions, which correspond with the chapters in her book. You can take enroll in each session individually, or enroll in the entire series for a 25% discount. In the Main Floor section, Terry discusses training basic obedience behaviors. This is an area that has fallen down in the last 10-15 years. Trainers have started focusing on relationship issues and socialization to the detriment of obedience. Of course, relationship and socialization are crucial, but so is obedience, and we need to bring obedience back into the equation. This will be the mark of a "good" trainer in the future - being able to help owners have a well-rounded dog. In this section, Terry gives great information on how to actually train a dog - she covers acquisition, fluency and generalization in step-by-step format and even throws in a few games to make it fun!
