The Human Half of Dog Training: Building Skills to Enhance Your Training (and Communication) Effectiveness

Even the best dog training or behavior consultation can have little effect if the owners don't buy in or follow through. Some of the most challenging aspects of the work of canine professionals are finding ways to engage the human clients and helping them learn new skills and behaviors to improve their relationships with their dogs. This workshop is designed to help trainers and other canine professionals develop collaborative relationships with their human clients, with the goal of full involvement in the dog training/consultation process now and in the future. The workshop focus is on ways to approach clients to engage them fully, skills for providing information that they are likely to hear and use, ways of interacting that help them follow through on training tasks to reach training goals successfully, and solving problems that are common with people, both individually and in classes.

The workshop involves information about working effectively with people, live demonstrations of the skills for doing so, and small group practice with feedback to enhance participants' skills in a fun and lively environment. The methods covered are practical and effective, used for years by Dr. Van Fleet when working with children and families, as well as with her dog training and behavior clients.

This workshop will help you fine-tune your skills for working effectively with human clients, for the ultimate benefit of their dogs.

If your boss doesn't understand you or your spouse, neighbors, patients, co-workers or employees just "don't get it," this seminar/workshop will offer valuable advice!
