  Description of Seminar/Conference

There were people before there were any dogs, so why is it so unclear how dogs came in to being? Somewhere in history the truth of the
origins of dogs was lost, and we must now try and piece together their story from the clues available.

Two hypotheses compete to explain the origins of dogs. Dr. Wynne will describe these two hypotheses and the evidence behind each. He
will also discuss how the biology and behavior of these different animals
provides clues to the origin of dogs as well as how modern science can inform future investigation into this area. He will conclude by offering a tentative conclusion about how dogs came to be the intimate companions that we know and love today, followed by a question and answer session led by Dr. Monique Udell.
